The name HOSEU (hueso), derived from the Spanish word "hueso," meaning bone, draws inspiration from the intriguing world of untitled artworks, including Cy Twombly’s "Untitled (Rome)", Agnes Martin's "Untitled (White Flower)" and Donald Judd's "Untitled (Stacks)". Similar to these pieces, we consciously abstain from "labeling" our brand, opting instead for a creative word scramble that imparts a sense of namelessness. This deliberate choice emphasizes that the true essence lies not in our name but in the significance of each garment/object designed.
The nature behind untitled works seamlessly aligns with the principles of minimalism, highlighting visual elements like material and form, rejecting explicit narratives, and fostering a direct, personal interaction between the viewer and the artwork/design.
At the core of our brand's philosophy is the art of conceptualization, echoing the creative process of artists. Our evolution towards this principle is rooted in inspiration, guiding us to go beyond mere assembly and instead craft collections that convey specific, thought-provoking concepts. Consider our latest collection, "001: On Lightness," a contemplative exploration of the inherent beauty in duality and contrast.
In this collection, we delve into the interplay of weight and color as fundamental elements of light, drawing inspiration from the delicate equilibrium between lightness and heaviness, as well as light and shadow. Each design within the collection serves as a manifestation of this concept, employing strategic paneling to play with the contrast between heavy and lighter weight fabrics, structured elements versus flowing forms, and a dynamic interplay of bone and white hues. Our emphasis lies not on the mere significance of a name but on the importance of our designs, each telling a unique story within the broader narrative of our brand.
